"Top Guns in Odessa - Part III"
After the Last Buzzer, and the Dust Settled...

Jim's first venture into "Promotor's" territory with the Top Guns Bull Rides in Odessa, Tx. has proven to be a resounding success. Even though there was/is a great deal more personal involvement with a high caliber event than meets the eye; like Jim's riding style... He made it look easy.

Jim Sharp Top Guns Bull RidesWith a contract to continue in his newly found role as event promotor, Jim has some good help from the PBR folks and his duties Will get easier with each event. Nevertheless, choosing the perfect dirt plus the right bucking stock and rounding up $30,000 in sponsor's checks was a new step. Adding Radio Talk Shows, a myriad of press interviews and an autograph session in with the nitty-gritty, nuts 'n bolts of a top notch event, not to mention the mental preparation for the riding itself would make just about any person question their sanity. No wonder the monicker, Razor... As in razor sharp.

The front gates open and the fans flow in. The back gate opens and the bulls buck out with a rider in tow. The Show begins... And Ends; so it seemed to a great many of the riders anyway. There were riders that did well and all will remember the Top Guns Bull Rides in Odessa if not for the prize money, for the the experience of hometown, West Texas hospitality and a sore butt.

The rider that will remember the event because of a good, perhaps scary ride? Beau Lindley. The riders who qualified for the short-go, J.W. Hart, Brian Wooley, Sam Nelson, B. Joe Whitney, Billy Robinson, Scott Auclair, Craig Sasse, Cody Whitney, Matt Austin, and Jed Ward of course will remember... Just because. Former World Champion Mike White, without any question will remember the fatter wallet. Jim? Well, one never forgets a new beginning and a job well done.
